This set of preferences allows you to define the parameters for drilling on reports. These preferences are as follows:
Note: The following list includes all possible options, however, not all options may be enabled/visible in the application you are using.
Note: The "Common Drill" notation refers to standard report output and the "Report Services Drill" refers to drill processing on documents and dashboards.
Note: Once you have defined your preferences, you must click the Apply button to save your changes and apply these to the application.

Description |
Common Drill: Keep Parent while Drilling |
This option allows you to specify if the parent attribute is retained when drilling. There are three options as follows: Yes - the parent attribute is automatically included on the drill-to report when drilling. No - the parent attribute is not included on the drill-to report when drilling. Use the settings in the report definition - each report will determine if the parent attribute is included in the drill-to report. Note: The term "parent" does not assume a drill down to a lower level of detail. These drill paths could be drilling up to a higher level of detail or drilling down to a lower level of detail. In this case the term "parent" refers to the level you are currently viewing and the drill path may be up or down (e.g., drilling from CBSA to State is drilling up, but when you "keep parent", the CBSA code is retained and a new report is created with the State attribute added). |
Common Drill: Keep Thresholds when Drilling |
This option allows you to specify if the thresholds defined for your current report are retained when you create a new report via the drill processing. There are three options as follows: Yes - the thresholds are enforced on the new drill-to report output No - the thresholds are not enforced on the new drill-to report output Use the settings in the report definition - each report will determine if the thresholds are copied to the drill-to report. Note: In order for the threshold to be enforced, the data element must be included in the drill-to report output. If the "parent" attribute is not retained when drilling and that attribute is included in the threshold, the threshold on the drill-to report will not be included or enforced. |
Common Drill: Open drill results in new window |
This option allows you to specify if a drill report is displayed in the current browser window or a new browser window is opened to display the results. When checked, a new browser window will be opened for the drill-to report. If not checked, the drill-to report will be displayed in the current application window. |
Report Services drill preferences: Drill within behavior |
This option allows you to specify drill preferences for documents and dashboards. There are three options for drill preferences within a document as follows: Automatic - this option will automatically determine if the drill-to result is displayed within the document or a new report based on the subset of data being viewed. If the drill-to data is a subset of the data in the document, the drill-to will remain within the document being viewed. If the drill-to data is outside of the subset of data in the document, a new report is automatically opened for the drill-to data. Based on Menu location - this option will automatically determine if the drill-to result is displayed within the document or a new report based on the overall data defined for the document. If the drill-to data is outside of the overall data of the document being viewed, the drill-to will remain within the document being viewed. If the drill-to data is outside of the overall data of the document, a new report is automatically opened for the drill-to data. Always Drill to a New Report - this option will automatically open a new report for the drill-to data regardless of the data defined for the document. |
